How it behaves
Specify clear and private states in one panel
With power applied, the liquid crystals align and the panel reads as ordinary clear glazing. Remove power and they scatter, returning a soft, even opacity that still carries daylight into the space. There is no mechanism, no track and nothing to gather dust.
Because the private state is the unpowered state, the glass fails safe to opaque. Where a clear fail state is required for escape routes or sightlines, we specify a small UPS on the drive circuit.

Control
Coordinate controls before installation
A remote control is included with every installation. A manual wall switch, motion sensor, app control and voice control are available as options, confirmed for your project before commissioning.
Panels may be connected in parallel up to a total area of 50 m² per single power-control system, subject to the project design and supplied equipment. The transformer should be installed in an accessible location, with a 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz fused socket provided nearby.
We provide the electrical schematic at specification stage so the M&E contractor can allow for containment, fused spurs and control cabling in good time.

Smart glass specification questions
The switchable film is laminated between two pieces of glass, normally 4–6 mm toughened glass on each side, with EVA film either side of the PDLC layer.
Each panel has a discreet lead-out from a busbar along one edge. We agree the edge and exit position with you at specification stage so the cable is concealed within the frame, head detail or floor channel.
Shaped, raked and curved panels are possible. Send the setting-out drawing with your enquiry and we will confirm feasibility and the busbar arrangement before manufacture.
Always switch the glass OFF before cleaning and do not switch it back ON until the surface is completely dry. Use only a damp, clean, lint-free microfibre cloth, avoid chemicals and excessive water, and do not allow water to enter the glass edges.
